Brown Sugar Syrup

My Gramma has always made her own syrup out of brown sugar and water.  Whenever we would visit as kids, Gramps would make us all customized pancakes (I usually got a letter "J") and Gramma would be busy at the stove whisking the syrup.  This is a great, simple recipe that costs only around $1 or so to make.

Even as an adult my Gramps still makes me "J" pancakes!  Here's us in Arizona on St Patrick's Day 2014!
Recipe makes 2 cups

Ingredients
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup water

Directions

Combine brown sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat.  Allow mixture to come to a boil, then cook for 1 minute for maple syrup consistency or 1.5-2 minutes for a thicker syrup.

Store in a container with a tight lid in the fridge for up to a month.

Enjoy!

  1. easy peasy! I think my grandma did something similar but boiled it longer (to the soft ball stage) and we poured it on the snow, because we're French dontcha know?!
