CWJ Food Bank Challenge: Day 18

Today is Day 18 of the Food Bank Challenge!  You can read all about it here
This week we are going completely without milk or butter because we are out of both and only have $20 left in our budget for the month. I want to use some of our funds to buy fresh produce next week, so we are sacrificing the extras.  It's actually not so bad, the only time I'm really missing it is in coffee.  I'd also be doing a lot more baking right now, especially leading up to Christmas.

Breakfast (9 am)
Eggs w/ Toast + Black Coffee
Total Cost: $1.09
It blows my mind that this breakfast can be this inexpensive. We had 2 eggs and 2 pieces of toast each, for around 50 cents a person. We fried the eggs in olive oil, so we only missed the butter slightly.  Marc usually would have had hot sauce on his eggs, but we left that out as well.

Lunch (1:12 pm)
Tuna Sandwich
Total Cost: $2.22
This was just a basic tuna sandwich and really hit the spot.  I really love tuna sandwiches, wraps, and salads, so this was a typical lunch for me.

Dinner (6 pm)
Homemade Mac and Cheese
Total Cost: $1.20
Considering last night's frozen spaghetti success, I had high hopes for the frozen Mac & Cheese I had set aside after making a large batch on Day 7. I wasn't let down, and it was better than expected.  Sure it's much better the first day you make it, but this sure beats wasting money on take-out!
Total time spent preparing food today: 25 minutes
Total Food Cost: $4.51 or $2.26 per person
Over/Under Budget: $3.49 or $1.75 per person
