About Me

Welcome to Cooking With Jax!  I'm Jacqueline (Jax) and I created this blog in January 2011 as a way to share my recipes with friends and family.  Everyone was always asking me "Can I have your recipe for..." so I figured a blog would be a fun, easy way to not only catalogue my recipes, but to share them with the world.

I'm excited to announce that in February 2012 Cooking With Jax became a feature in my local newspaper.  I am really excited about this new endeavour, and I can't wait to share more features with you all.

I am a firm believer in cooking from scratch.  Each of my recipes have been cooked by myself personally (with the help from an occasional guest blogger - see below).

I like to post recipes for all skill levels, so even if you are a newbie chef, there is a recipe for you!

A few of my cooking inspirations

Growing up my Dad was always cooking fancy appetizers - jalapeƱos stuffed with cream cheese, mushroom caps, stuffed peppers, that sort of thing.  He made some great main courses as well (his bacon wrapped turkey was always a delicious addition to our Thanksgiving feast).  My Dad was first official taste tester when I started baking.  I remember how excited I would get when he tried something I had made.  If my Dad's sweet tooth approved, I knew the recipe was a winner.

A huge cooking inspiration to me is my Dad's Mom, my Gramma Drew.  She is a big reason I love to cook as much as I do. I have a lot of fond memories of cooking/baking with her throughout the years.  I'm really looking forward to our next trip to visit her and Gramps in Duncan, BC.   Here is a picture of her the last time we made jam together - July '10 (we used raspberries and blackberries that Gramps helped us pick earlier in the day).

Here's one of Gramps whipping up a batch of blueberry pancakes for us on the same visit.  Not pictured are the letter pancakes (pancakes in the shape of our initials) he made specially for us.  26 years old and I still love it when my Gramps makes me letter pancakes!  :)

My husband's Uncle Frank has always been one of my favourite people.  He is a great chef - there is nothing that man can not cook.  From baking a pie (sweet or savoury), to a gourmet dinner - you never pass up an invitation to his dinner table.

  1. Love your recipes. Unfortunately I can't get the Lilydale products because I'm in the states. But I'll figure out an alternative. I sent you message on MFP as well.

    Thanks again, love your blog.
