Some days you just want to colour…

A page from my most recent adventures in colouring.
So, the inevitable happened - I missed a day blogging yesterday as part of NaBloPoMo.  It was 11pm and just as I was drifting off to sleep after a long, yet content day the realization that I hadn't posted anything yet.   Ultimately though, sleep won (I literally have no willpower when it comes to doing things vs sleeping). I reflected on the day that had passed, and decided that it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't post that day.  I spent a much needed day getting a bunch of work off my to-do list (check out the new class list on the blog's home page!), getting organized with some of the volunteer organizations I'm apart of, and then capped the evening off  in the best way possibly - having drinks and colouring at a local bar/lounge with my closest friends. You read that right, my friends and I had a highly engaging evening filled with adult colouring.

What my friend's and I do when we go to the bar.
My infatuation with colouring happened exactly 29 weeks ago today (thank you Instagram) when my good friend Sarah over at Stop Nothing But Time posted a picture of her new Johanna Basford colouring book on her Instagram Feed.  I was intrigued - the pages were just begging to explored.
The pic that first got me interested in colouring from my friend Sarah's Instagram Feed.
A blank page, just begging to be coloured.
I happened to go to Chapter's at West Edmonton Mall the following weekend and found a big beautiful display of "The Enchanted Forest".  It was love at first sight - I was smitten.  From the first time my hand brushed the gorgeous smooth paper that my pencil crayons would glide so easily across, to the fancy gold paper adorned to the cover and the 4 page, and then gorgeous fold out dragon that would be saved for extra special colouring occasion one day.
The cover - so beautiful.
I giddily purchased the book (luckily, right before they all sold out the very next day) and immediately made my way to DeSerres afterwards, visions of their pencil crayon wall dancing in my head.

Since then, my colouring book has been through a lot with me:
Camping:

Deep conversations with my closest friends (who also all colour - did I score in the friend department or what?):
Colouring, wine, and great conversation.
And even to the tops of mountains:
A hike this summer that ended in colouring.
So dear readers, yesterday I took a day off to colour and I'm 100% okay with that.   Here's to hiccups in the road, and getting back on the horse even when things don't go exactly as planned.
