If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that my friend Sarah and I over at Stop Nothing But Time have been on a bit of a fitness kick lately. In fact, for the last 100 days we've been meeting up for an hour or more each day to exercise together to encourage each other on our mutual quest to get fit. We've gone walking, swimming, hiking, played racquetball, and even did a little indoor rock climbing. To celebrate 100 days we decided to do a juice cleanse together! Be sure to check out Sarah's post over at her blog www.StopNothingButTime.blogspot.com for her thoughts and opinions on the cleanse and how it worked for her!
I've done juice cleanses in the past and really enjoyed them, so this time I wanted to find something a little bit more local. I researched a few different brands and found Glow Juicery in Edmonton, Alberta which is the closest city to where I live. What first attracted me to this cleanse was the vibrant colours of the juices - I couldn't wait to try them!
So what did I really think of the juices once I got to taste them? Well let's find out!
This one was great! I really like the chlorophyll boost and I thought that this was a great green juice to start the day with. I often have a green smoothie in the morning so this juice was an easy transition.
Citrus Glow – Orange + Lemon + Ginger + Coconut H2O
This juice was easily my favourite of the bunch. The citrus tasted nice and refreshing on my taste buds, and the lemon offered a tart tanginess that kept me wanting more. I could see myself buying this one in the future to have with breakfast!
After Glow – Spinach + Cucumber + Celery + Kale + Apple + Parsley
This one tasted a lot like apple juice, which was really refreshing. It's not often I find a juice with kale that I'm very fond of so this was a pleasant surprise.

Vitamin G – Spinach + Cucumber + Carrot + Orange + Lemon + Ginger
I have to admit, the first time I tried this juice I really wasn't a fan - it was far too acid for my liking (since having my gallbladder removed a few years ago I'm really sensitive to that sort of thing). Towards the middle of this cleanse I started to actually like it though, so I'm not really sure what's going on there!

Glow Boost – Spinach + Kale + Cucumber + Broccoli + Mint + Acai
This one tasted mostly like cucumber to me. I have to admit I didn't really taste the mint or acai. It's a nice light tasting, juice.

This one tasted really earthy. I'm not a huge fan of beets, but I didn't mind this juice. I thought the flavour pairings that accompanied the beet were pretty spot on (ginger was a really pleasant addition). I picked up a few extra juices so my husband could try them while I was cleansing and he declared that this one was his favourite.
Day 1
Comments: I felt slightly hungry around lunchtime but after eating my Glow Salad (a combination of leafy greens, broccoli, cucumber, bean sprouts, radish, celery if you feel so inclined, and almonds or hemp) I felt satisfied.
Cravings: Protein (Meat/Cheese) - I was really craving red meat - in fact, I craved a cheeseburger for the better part of the day (the fact that my husband stopped at Fat Burger to grab a bite to eat while I was in the car with him may or may not have had something to do with it!). Later on in the day when around dinner time I craved more sensible protein, which was tuna. I munched on some hemp seeds (which is allowed on the cleanse) and called it a night.
Day 2
Down 3.8 lbs overall
Cravings: N/A
Comments: I truly think that cleansing is a lot easier to do in the summer because it's so hot! We had a heat wave today, it peaked at around 33! I spend the day out at Maligne Lake (which Glow Juicery will be available at in the upcoming year!) with Sarah and I can honestly say I didn't real feel hungry throughout the day. We had our Glow Salad on the beach on our way home, and again, it was really satisfying!
Day 3
Down 7.9 lbs overall
Cravings: N/A
Overall:
I'm actually really surprised that I didn't crave sugar at all throughout this cleanse. I think that the natural sugars in the juices made up for this.
I had a light clean full feeling that lasted all day. It's hard to try and explain, but when I ran up the stairs the evening of day 3, there was a lightness to my step and an overall feeling of health and wellbeing throughout the duration of the cleanse.
Glow juicery is also eco minded, and offers a glass bottle alternative, which I really like! Purchase one of these glass bottles and save $1 off your juice every time you visit the store!
Would I cleanse again?
Absolutely! I felt great the last time I cleansed and this time was no exception.
Would I recommend cleansing to a friend?
Another absolutely - this juice cleanse was exactly what I needed to re-set my system and to helped me a cut processed foods out of my diet.
Where can you find Glow Juice?
