Tea Sparrow (Monthly Subscription Box) Review + Giveaway!

Tea Sparrow is a monthly subscription box committed to delivering delicious, organic teas to your doorstep every month.  They hold bi-annual tea parties and pick only the best teas to send to their subscribers. They sent me January's box to try, and offered to send February's box to one lucky reader (directions on how to enter at the end of this post).  If you're a first time subscriber, they've included a 60% off coupon you can use (also at the bottom of this post).

January's tea box was all about the detox.  Tea Sparrow put together this box to help subscribers recover from the holidays and keep healthy over the winter.  In this New Years Resolution Box, each tea comes with its own natural healing properties: weight loss, sharpened thinking skills, antioxidants, immunity-boosting and flu-fighting.  Enter this link into your browser to read all about the teas in January's box: http://goo.gl/qu3yBi

I drink tea daily, so I really enjoyed this subscription box!  This month's teas look and sound really delicious, and I can't wait to try them all!

Pineapple Coconut Oolong
"Quite possibly the most tropical oolong ever created. The pineapple and coconut are intensely heady and there is a mild grassy astringency from the oolong. This tea is super special so we suggest drinking it as is but it’s also delicious as an iced tea. Drink as an after-workout refresher, or on a hot summer evening. Grilled veggies and fish pair exquisitely."

As soon as I saw this tea, I knew I would love this box! I really like Pina Colada's and it was  interesting have these flavours as a warm drink (although this tea would make an excellent iced tea too!).  My husband thought a shot of rum would make it the perfect hot winter drink!  This tea costs over $200/pound, so it's no wonder it came in #1 at the tea party taste tests.

Ginger Lime Rooibos
"The dry and pleasantly flavored West Indian Lime variety gives our Organic Ginger Lime Rooibos a unique and zesty citrus flavor with notes of ginger and rare spices. The brilliant turmeric yellow and orange infusion glows in the cup and has wonderfully refreshing notes of tropical fruits and spices."

This one smelled just like Mountain Dew!  I'm saving this one for the next time one of us is feeling under the weather - with the citrus and ginger it sounds like a great tea for a sore throat.

Chocolate Pu-erh
"This velvety infusion combines black Pu∙erh tea and organic cocoa. Accented by whole vanilla beans and sweet orange peel, this decadent blend is rounded off with nutmeg and cinnamon for a spicy finish."

If this one didn't have caffeine in it, I would be sipping on it right now (I'm writing this at 10pm). I'm not usually a fan of chocolate flavoured teas, but this one looks and smells really great.  I am going to try this one right after my morning coffee tomorrow!

Blueberry Rooibos
"African rooibos and real, wild blueberries in perfect balance provide tart, juicy and naturally sweet flavors that taste great hot or iced. Blueberry Rooibos is artfully hand blended in small batches using only 100% naturally caffeine-free botanicals and artisan herbal tea-blending techniques."

This one is another tea that would probably taste great served cold, as iced tea.  I was surprised that this one had a piney flavour to it - I wasn't expecting that at all, but it was actually pretty delicious!

  16. I've been cooking peppers and onions in the skillet on the grill a lot lately. I'll have to add jalapenos next time. Yum. I like cooking bacon that way too, although hot fat + open flame adds a nice element of danger. I used to get flank steak, but my husband got me to try the carne asada cut from our local market, and I prefer it. Not sure if it's thin-cut flank or skirt (I'll have to ask), but it looks like this
