Q: What is your favourite kitchen gadget?A: I love my food processor, it's so versatile. I really love my measuring spoons though, they are the perfect shape for the brand of spices that I use. They are really great quality so I know I will be using them when I am an old lady.
Q: Do you prefer cooking or baking?
A: I would have to say that baking is my true passion, but I really love to cook as well.
Q: Do you prefer sweet, spicy or salty foods?
A: I have a huge sweet tooth, but I LOVE salt. While I like to add a bit of heat to some dishes, I try to steer clear of anything too spicy.
Q: Are there any foods that you dislike?
A: Celery is my nemesis. Seriously, cue Western face-off music whenever we are around each other. If I never saw celery again in my life I would be thrilled. Somehow it makes its way into nearly every dish I eat away from home - however I absolutely will not eat it. At the end of the meal my plate resembles a picky 6 year old's with the celery scrunched to one side. To this day, no one has been able to sneak celery by me in a dish - not even celery salt. Oh, and the texture of mushrooms... don't even get me started!
Q: What type of camera do you use?
A: I shoot my photos with a basic DSLR camera - a Canon Rebel T2i. I recently purchased a 50mm 1.4 f lens and I really love it. A lot of the older pictures (before 2012 were shot with an iPhone).
Q: Is blogging your only job?
A: Not even close! Everyone always teases me that I'm the busiest person they know, but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way! I write a recipe feature for my local newspaper, teach technology courses 2 nights a week, and I am also the Festival Director for a regional arts & culture festival that takes place each year. It doesn't stop there though, I also have a few volunteer roles such as acting as a Director for the Art Society in my local town, and the Treasurer for my local Toastmaster's club.
Q: Other than cooking and baking, what are your hobbies?
A: In the last couple of years, I have really started to enjoy gardening. I am incredibly happy to say that my garden is doing really well this year and I hope to have a huge bounty so I can make tons of new recipes to share with you all.
Q: Who are your cooking inspirations?
A: My Gramma Drew is a huge inspiration to me - I know I get my passion for cooking from her. She cooks nearly everything from scratch (right down to the jam on your toast and the syrup on your pancakes - of course made with freshly picked ingredients).
I also really respect Jamie Oliver, and everything that he does for the Food Revolution. Seriously, that guy is the coolest, and if I ever had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with any chef - it would be him, hands down.
Q: Do you mind if I re-post your recipes?
A: Absolutely not, but please ask me first though and be sure to include a link back to my original recipe.
