Brownie Mini Donut with White Chocolate Candy Cane Frosting

I was was about to make brownies the other day, when my newly acquired mini donut mold caught the corner of my eye.  These were purely intended to be experimental, but what came out the oven tasted so delicious, I knew that they had to be shared immediately.  Not only are these brownie mini donuts the perfect size bite, the white chocolate candy cane frosting makes them a deliciously festive treat.

I've never tried making frosting with chocolate before, thinking that the chocolate would render the frosting to be heavy and thick.  On the contrary!  This frosting is so light and fluffy, I think I'll be trying different flavours of Chipits with this recipe the next time I need to frost a special treat (I'm looking at you butterscotch)!

Ingredients
- your favourite brownie mix (here's mine)

White Chocolate Candy Cane Frosting 
- 1 pkg Hershey's White Chocolate Chipits
- 2/3 cup butter, room temperature
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 large candy canes
Directions
Start by preparing the batter for your favourite brownie mix.  
Scoop brownie batter into an icing bag (a sandwich baggie will work in a pinch!).  Cut the tip of the bag off, and pipe brownie batter into donut hold. 
Bake in pre-heated 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the brownie start to pull alway from the sides of the donut hold. 
Icing
While brownies are cooling, prepare icing. 
Melt chocolate chips in a medium saucepan over low heat being careful not to over-melt. 
Meanwhile, whip butter and icing sugar together.  Add cream, and continue whipping until fluffy.  
Once chocolate has fully melted, slowly add it to the mixture while continuing to whip.  
Once brownies are fully cooled, spread on frosting.
Using a rolling pin, crush peppermint candy canes.  Sprinkle on top of frosted brownies brownies.
