Low in my slow cooker for a little over 6 hours and it was perfect! It made about 4 cups worth. Being Scottish I am used to a salty porridge but this is my absolute new favourite!! Also I slept through and didn't stir like said in the recipe, this didn't matter, I reckon if you were cooking on high you would want to stir it!

Thank you! It's delicious, though it calls for strawberries and strawberry ice cream topping, I use maple syrup. I think it's at allrecipes.com and possibly by Chef Roly Poly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6403922746088394173.post-6055879977034900352013-07-28T14:05:27.760-06:002013-07-28T14:05:27.760-06:00I have made this twice using the stove top method,...I have made this twice using the stove top method, first time halved everything for a trial, second time did the full amount. It was SOOOOOOOOO fresh tasting and good. I am not sure how healthy it was but I knew what I was putting in it so I really enjoyed it. Tasted like fresh apples and cinnamon. Today I am trying the slow cooker method, stirring, and using steel cut oats. Not sure how I will like it, as the steel cut oats look like bird seed, lol, but I am hopeful.

I found, using the stove top method, that dicing the apples very small and boiling them like 5 minutes longer than the rest of the rolled oats helped the apples cook up perfectly. This recipe is just fantastic!! Drizzled with organic honey and more cinnamon on top after it is done cooking just makes it over the top wonderful.

PS this is coming from someone who really doesn't even like oatmeal normally. - KatAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6403922746088394173.post-38034178765366953922013-05-28T08:07:37.051-06:002013-05-28T08:07:37.051-06:00OMG sooo good. I don't want to be a debby-downer, but I found this to be quite bland. Adding the maple syrup helped, but it didn't so much complement the flavours, as just simply give the recipe some flavour. I really want a variation of this to work out.I'm making it again this morning using different and fresher apples, having a higher apple juice to water ratio, adding some lemon juice, more cinnamon and a 1/2 tsp of salt. What variations have other people tried?
